On last check, a home stay guest house of 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms with all necessary facilities in Ipoh can rake in between RM250 and RM350 a night, depending on location, season and facilities available in the house.

Wow, renting it out 3 nights a month is more than enough to pay the monthly home loan installment!

Location? Mine is near the Hill City Hotel and Sam Po Tong Temple. Good location, right?

Facilities? Let me see what I should add into the house: two more air-conditioners, two more heaters, microwave, washing machine, DVD player, Astro, wifi, one more queen sized bed frame, mattresses, pillows, bedsheets, …

Argh, it’s the facilities that I need to invest on! Another problem is that the whole house needs a new coat of paint. BUT, they can be solved through baby steps. Break them down into small steps and solve them one by one even if it means taking one year or two years to complete.

Yes, I am excited to turn my vacant home into a home stay guest house! Maybe I should start My Home Stay Guest House Project to record the progress.
