New Goal To Cut Electricity Bill To Less Than $80 A Month
I have a new goal for my electricity bill starting this month. From a whopping RM160 electricity bill for the month of November, I managed to bring the electric bill down to about RM100 for December and January.
My new goal is to cut the electricity bill to less than RM80 ($23). To hit this goal, I have collected some tips on saving money on electricity bills that I can use.
1. Cut Down on Computer Usage. There are 2 computers in the house and hubby and I are always online for more than 15 hours.
Even when we are out for lunch or dinner, we don’t turn off the computers. Apparently, rebooting takes less power than running unused even for 15 minutes or so.
Though I work full time online, it’s possible for me to reduce my working hours.
2. Reduce the Air-Conditioner Usage. Reducing the usage hours from more than 20 hours a day to about 9 hours a day does save us some electricity. Now we’ll try to cut down the electricity usage to less than 5 hours a day.
3. Do Laundry at Odd Hours & Full Loads. Do laundry at odd hours and full loads to save on electric and water. They charge less when used during off peak hours.
4. Go to Bed & Wake Up Early to Use Sunlight. Wow, I am so used to sleeping at 2 am and waking up at 10 am! Okay, I am going to give it a try by going to bed and waking up earlier to use sunlight instead of electricity.
5. Turn Off the TV or Radio When Not in Use. I must admit that I sometimes let the TV or radio on for many hours while updating my niche blogs and stores.
I am excited to see if I can achieve the goal of reducing the electricity bill to less than $80 a month.
