New Broadband Access Account Bill & Hefty Dial-Up Internet Connection Fee – $209

As I (hubby and I) moved back to the small village to live, I had to stop the broadband access connection at the old place and apply for a new account.

At first I was assured by the staff of this near monopoly Internet service provider in my country that I didn’t have to cancel the old broadband access account. They would do the transfer of account online. However, it turned out that it was a bullshit!

After asking, calling, checking and complaining for a few weeks, they couldn’t get my old broadband access account connected to the new phone. There were all sorts of lame and ridiculous reasons why they couldn’t get it done. The most ridiculous one was that they didn’t have any port for my new broadband access account. What?!

I was so pissed off that I got help from a nearby computer store. They registered a new account for me within minutes, and the next day the account was activated!

It’s very obvious that the near monopoly Internet service provider is money sucker! They want users to close the old accounts and open new ones so that they can charge activation fees and other this-and-that fees.

So, my bill came and I had to pay $66 for activation fee and 2 months’ subscription fees. Not only this amount …

During those few weeks without broadband access connection, I had to resort to using dial-up Internet connection service to do my work online. $0.68 per hour. Guess how much I was charged? Gosh! $143! I felt like crying when I saw this staggering amount.

I did make a complain to the Internet service provider and it’s still in progress. But while waiting for their report, I still had to pay the hefty $143 (RM490) dial-up connection fee, otherwise there will be interruption from them.
