Food & Grocery Prices Still Go Up Although Petrol Price Keeps Going Down
Food and grocery prices have gone up so much these few months. Although the petrol price has been slashed a few times, prices for food and grocery do not seem to decrease at all.
In February 2008, I told you that food and grocery sold at my village were very cheap, and thus living in a small village did help in saving money.
Now January 2009, I must complain a bit that food and grocery expenses have increased two or two folds.
Here are some examples: a plate of chicken rice has shot to RM3.50 ($1.00) from RM2.50; a pack of instant noodles has increased to RM3.80 from RM2.50.
It seems that hubby and I must cut down the number of times we have our meals at nearby food courts or restaurants.
Fortunately, hubby’s petrol usage is still low. It’s even lower than the (RM210) $60 petrol expense per month I recorded in March 2008.
According to hubby, he spends about RM120 ($34) per month on petrol expense.
As for water, electricity, telephone and hand phone bills, and internet connection fee, they cost approximately RM250 to RM300 per month.
I am hoping to reduce the amount to less than $250 by controlling the air-cond and handphone usage.
